October 26

We are beginning to get busier and busier with our work here. All day long we are doing things for the young missionaries or with our preparations for the Self Reliance work.
Today our Stake President had asked us to accompany him to visit a Branch that was an Hour and a half drive away. He wanted us to speak about self reliance and he also spoke. He also wants us to speak in Stake Conference in November. Pres. Insignia does not have a car of his own but he is the Institute Director and the CES offices and classes are in the same building as our Self Reliance Center, so we visit with him a lot. You would all get a kick out of him. He is a lot of fun and has a lot of energy.
The new Self Reliance is really an amazing program and I am sure that when people get involved with it they will be much better prepared to be successful at whatever they choose to do. It requires a pretty big commitment for all who participate. People start with a “My Path” training which will lead them to choose to be in a group of people who are interested in better education, better work or starting and growing a business. The groups require a six week course in which they work together and take assignments that require about two hours per day. The growing my business course takes 12 weeks.  In D&C 104:15 “it is my purpose to provide for my saints”. This is how the Lord will provide for his saints. Teach them correct principles of self reliance. By this the rising generation could emerge from poverty. We call it the “Self Reliance Center" where we are assigned and where we do some of our work. My thinking is that the "Self Reliance Center” needs to be in the hearts of the people and in each home.
We are having a great time; I have an amazing companion.
I love you all,   Dad
